DescriptionPosition at Wind RiverJob Description: Senior Professional Services Engineer(Linux and/or VxWorks Development and Maintenance)About the OpportunityWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Professional Services Engineer to join our elite team of embedded systems professionals. As a global leader in embedded solutions, we serve industries such as Telecom, Industrial, Medical, Aerospace & Defense, and beyond. This senior role offers a unique opportunity to lead complex customer engagements, drive technical innovation, and mentor junior team members while delivering cutting-edge Linux and/or VxWorks-based embedded solutions.You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced embedded systems that leverage real-time operating systems and industry-leading technologies, enabling our customers to achieve their goals with efficiency and precision.Role and ResponsibilitiesIn this senior-level role, you will take ownership of complex projects and act as a technical lead for customer engagements. Key responsibilities include:
  • Customer Engagement: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers, driving requirements gathering, architectural design, and solution delivery.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve sophisticated technical issues in Linux or VxWorks-based systems, providing expert guidance to customers and internal teams.
  • Software Development: Design, implement, and integrate advanced software components and frameworks for embedded systems.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  • Security and Maintenance: Proactively monitor and address security vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with field engineers, premium support teams, and R&D teams to deliver seamless solutions.
  • Defect Management: Prioritize and address defect resolutions for internal and customer-reported issues.
  • Open-Source Contributions: Represent the organization in open-source communities, driving innovation and contributing to key projects.
  • System Optimization: Optimize real-time system performance, leveraging in-depth knowledge of RTOS principles and embedded architectures.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, with a focus on Linux and/or VxWorks.
  • Advanced expertise in real-time operating systems, including debugging, performance tuning, and application development.
  • Proficiency in C programming, with solid experience in Python, Shell scripting, and software integration.
  • Strong knowledge of operating system concepts (scheduling, memory management, IPC, etc.) and embedded processor architectures (ARM, PPC, MIPS, x86).
  • Proven experience with tools like Git, JIRA, and other software lifecycle management tools.
  • Strong understanding of security practices in embedded systems and vulnerability management.
  • Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
