SOWs often have complex terms, deliverables, timelines, and fine print. The person should catch inconsistencies, missing info, or unclear language.
Analytical Thinking
They need to interpret requirements, deliverables, and responsibilities, and understand how they impact the project or contract.
Business Acumen
Understanding how the SOW ties to business objectives, budgets, and client expectations is crucial.
Communication Skills
They should be able to summarize findings, ask clarifying questions, and communicate concerns or recommendations clearly.
Documentation & Reporting Skills
Ability to create clear reports or summaries after reviewing the SOW

Experience with procurement or vendor management
Knowledge of compliance and regulatory considerations
Risk assessment skills
Familiarity with contractual terms (payment terms, liabilities, SLAs, IP rights) is important to spot red flags or risky clauses.

Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or a related field.
